For 5000 years, Nox has worked hard to keep the balance between life and death in tow. He's been pretty darn good at it, too, as have his apprentices.

Eager, rash, and easily distracted, young psychopomp Ruth just wants to prove herself to her mentor. But when curiosity gets the better of her, she and Nox are both in for a rude awakening. Not everything can be solved with arguing, nor can it be solved with the current rules.

It's up to the two of them to find the balance, just as in life and death.
